Thankfully, that was the last we will see of Anthony Taylor for at least a few months.
A referee so awful, he’s now so afraid of giving bad decisions he just doesn’t give any.
Taylor didn’t really have much to do during Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Sunderland, but he still managed to do most of it wrong.
Booking only Aaron Ramsey, Lee Cattermole was allowed to rack up fouls for fun, timewasting went without warning (and not added onto the end of the game, just three minutes going up when, on average, Pantilimon spent that long over every goalkick) and generally allowed every little niggle, push or shove to go unpunished.
He didn’t even wave them away, probably because he didn’t see them.
On one occasion Giroud was flung to the ground in the box with such force he looked like he was doing a bicycle kick. Blocks on the edge of the box…carry on. Offside? Never mind. Out for a corner? Nah, goalkick. Ball not even out? Throw in to Sunderland.
He’s not biased. He’s just truly and utterly awful.
At least he’s consistent.
Fair play to Sunderland, however, who were nowhere near as kicky as I expected them to be, thankfully.
Well done on your survival as well, now feck off back north in your bus.
