It seemed like a foregone conclusion.

There seemed no way that the club could talk Tomas Rosicky into staying beyond the end of the season but, somehow, they’ve managed to get him to agree to a contract extension.

With Arsene Wenger telling the media on Friday at his press conference that the club had taken up the option to extend his contract by 12 months, I do wonder about Rosicky’s comments earlier in the week which were vague, although did offer some hope he would stay.

Regardless, the Little Mozart won’t be going anywhere just yet and here at Cannon Towers we couldn’t be happier.

Wenger told the press “We have taken up the option.

“Tomas Rosicky is not involved in the transfer market at all, he will be with us next season and we do not use the players for any deal.”

The extension also means that Rosicky will get a testimonial, and would be the first Arsenal player to do so since Dennis Bergkamp ten years ago.

Theo will also celebrate 10 years at the club season in 2016 too. Provided he decides to stick around that is.

However, although Theo signed for Arsenal a few months before Tom, he made his debut for the side after him.

Rosicky signed for Arsenal in the summer of 2006.

Testimonials, just like buses, eh?

[Abou Diaby would also be due one but as he’s out of contract and no agreement has been reached that would see him stay we thought we’d just leave that out]
