Mesut Ozil once again demonstrated that he is doing nothing more than ‘nicking a living‘ by putting in more tackles on the final league day of the season than any other Arsenal player except Kieran Gibbs.
Often accused of being ‘lazy‘ the German floats around the pitch covering practically every blade of grass without many people noticing. He’s so subtle and understated that you almost need a playercam on him to the exclusion of all else to truly get an appreciation for his genius.
Against the Baggies, Ozil (and Gibbs) made three tackles with ‘enforcer‘ Francis Coquelin making just one. Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez both made two showing a willingness from Arsenal to try and win the ball back higher up the pitch, a tactic that has reaped rewards all season when instigated correctly.
Ozil also made one interception, six key passes, 82 passes with a 90.2% pass accuracy, put in six crosses and even won a header.
Lazy sod.
