Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck both missed Arsenal’s goalless draw with Sunderland on Wednesday night.

A duo that the side could have done with as they failed to score for the third game in a row in the league at home for the first time in six years, the boss gave an update about both players after the final whistle.

While I’m trying to be optimistic about the Ox, it’s hard not to be concerned when Wenger says he’s not sure if he will be available for England over the summer, despite the assertion that he’s about to come back into training.

In Wenger’s own words “Alex is coming back into full training. He’s not completely ready yet. I can’t tell you if he will be available to go with England.

“Welbeck has a test on Saturday or Sunday. We’ll know more about it then.”

Welbeck was expected back against United on Sunday so he has certainly suffered some sort of setback with his knee swelling, hopefully it’s nothing major. It would be lovely if he could win a trophy with Arsenal in his first season after joining from United who just went for their second season without winning anything.

As for the Ox, well, missing two cup finals in two successive seasons is just plain wrong.
