Arsenal are allegedly scouting Norberto Neto ahead of a free transfer in the summer.
The report, which first appeared in Metro, claims that the Gunners are looking to bring in the Brazilian keeper, who currently plays for Fiorentina, as they are yet to be convinced by David Ospina. If that statement is true then they have a very odd way of showing it by picking him every week and leaving the even more talented Wojciech Szczesny on the bench.
By our count this is now five keepers (at least) Arsenal are trying to sign in the summer – Petr Cech, Asmir Begovic, Kasper Schmeichel, Iker Casillas, Neto – even though Arsene Wenger has said that he’s not in the market for a keeper.
The press and pundits have decided that Arsenal need a keeper and whether you agree or not, the management at Arsenal seem happy with the options they currently have and after only signing Ospina last summer, I’d be incredibly surprised if the club bring in a new keeper unless Woj tries to force a move away from the club.
Back at the start of March reports doing the rounds claimed that Inter Milan were eyeing up the Pole to replace their own keeper, Samir Handanovic, who was said to be bound for Manchester United, and that Arsenal would replace him with Neto. As we said at the time, that’s an awfully big goalkeeper merry-go-round, all dependent on David de Gea leaving United for Real Madrid, who would then look to shift on one of their keepers etc etc.
