Roy Hodgson has called up four Arsenal players for the international games in June.

Facing the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on 7th June before playing Slovenia in a Euro qualifier on 14th June, Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck will all have to wait before going on their summer jollies.

The news isn’t quite as bad as it might have been, all four have, after all, hardly been run into the ground by the club this season for a variety of reasons.

The one notable omission is, of course, the Ox, who is still struggling to gain any measure of fitness and seems more and more likely to miss out on his second FA Cup final in two seasons which just seems particularly unfair of the footballing gods who clearly hate him.

Arsene Wenger said after the game against Sunderland that he wasn’t sure if the Ox would be fit for the games anyway.

As we already reported, Calum Chambers and Carl Jenkinson will take part in the u21 Euros in the Czech Republic.
