Pierre Littbarski has admitted that FC Koln are unlikely to make a move for favourite son Lukas Podolski.

Those of you who have been following the Lukas Podolski saga will know that the German club have already ruled out a move for the World Cup winner, but the former winger, who played for Koln for six years between 1987 and 1992 has reiterated the point.

“The leaders and the coach must be convinced that would make a breakthrough at the club; from a distance I would say that buying Podolski does not represent a priority for them.

“In these circumstances many things should be considered, because Podolski has an important position not only because of the national team but also his relationship with the city.”

Podolski’s future is as clear as mud at this point.

He has flip-flopped on what he’s likely to do it’s getting hard to keep track. One thing is clear – Inter Milan don’t want him – and with one year left on his Arsenal deal, this summer is the time for the club to cash-in before losing him on a free.

While Poldi seems open to a return to Arsenal it’s hard to see how he fits into the side and given how this season went he would likely find himself benched, at best, and frustrated at his lack of playing time.

It certainly seems to be a case of ‘where‘ he ends up rather than anything else.
