Arsenal and Manchester United have the best pitches in the league – official.

The two clubs were awarded the Barclays Grounds Team of the Year, an award which is run by the Playing Surfaces Committee in conjunction with the STRI and help to recognise the importance the quality of the pitch plays in football at the top level, something we’ve already spoken on at length here on Daily Cannon.

Marks are awarded for different aspects of pitch and management performance and is compiled using marks given by both match officials and match delegates as well as a pitch assessment made by Dr Stephen Baker, the head of sports surface technology at the STRI. Dr Baker factors in a number of elements including how much the pitch has been used, shade, environment factors and resources available to the club.
