Arsenal have, apparently, saved RC Lens from bankruptcy by signing two of their youngsters.

As you’ve probably read over the last few days, Arsenal have sealed a deal to bring 17-year-old Jeff Reine Adelaide and 16-year-old Yassin Fortune to the club.

Paying €4m for the pair, Lens still need to raise more money to save themselves and had hoped to get the Gunners to pay €10m for the duo. It’s like they’ve never met Arsene Wenger before.

Needing to raise €7m before the end of June, the French side are still in a bit of bother, clearly but not as much as they were before Arsenal knocked on their door.

As for the players themselves, both have represented France at u17 level. It won’t surprise you in the slightest to learn that both are attacking midfielders, though both can play as a forward. After all, that is the position Wenger covets above all others. AM not CF.

Manchester United had been said to be interested in Fortune but according to the Daily Mail, the Old Trafford outlet were not prepared to gamble given the cost of the player (but Falcao was a bargain, right?).
