After Arsenal ground out a 1-0 win against Burnley this weekend, the manager describes how we’re ready to ‘scrap’ in our upcoming games.

After our weekend fixture away to Burnley where we came away with all three points, Arsene Wenger pointed out how we showed that we’re more than just ‘sharpness and fluency’, and we’re now more than capable of demonstrating that we can battle until the end of matches.

I believe that we know we can play with sharpness and fluency but we know as well that on Saturday what we needed was to be a bit more scrappy, show more fight, be more combative,” he continued. “That’s what we have to show in the coming months.”

He also mentions how, at this late stage in the season, the scoreline doesn’t necessarily matter – just getting those vital three points, a win is a win sometimes. You can’t always win 3-1, 4-1 or 5-1. In this season you need as well to be able to win 1-0.”

After praising his own team, the Arsenal manger was keen to point out the strength of the newly promoted Burnley side who are currently sitting between Leicester City and Queens Park Rangers in the relegation zone. Speaking highly of the Clarets and their manager, Sean Dyche, he said, They are a very good side, well organised. You have to give credit to their manager. He does a good job here.”

As ever, Wenger urged his team to focus on our FA Cup semi-final match against Reading at Wembley, before returning their attention back to the league.

Behind us are some hunters as well and we are in a position that nobody believed was possible one month ago, so let’s just focus on ourselves and see where we stand at the end of the season.”
