Post-Liverpool, Arsene Wenger praises how Alexis Sanchez ‘gave absolutely everything’ for his team during the landslide 4-1 win against the Reds.

In his post-match press conference, Arsene Wenger has described how Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez fought for the win and gave all he could to the cause:

“He worked very hard,” he says, “He gave absolutely everything and had a great first half. Alexis is a guy who never gives up.”

An aspect of Sanchez’s game, which many Arsenal fans have loved from the outset, is his tenacity and desire to change a game – to get involved. After a rusty – albeit still decent – couple of months, it’s excellent to see his hard work paying off.

On Saturday, he scored a thumping goal at the end of the first half, skipping past the Liverpool defence and hammering the ball with his right foot into the top of the net in what was his 20th goal for Arsenal.

His performance was as passionate as it was professional, despite being fatigued after international duty.

Wenger touched on this saying, “He played two games with Chile, Ozil played two games with Germany and I could see that their legs had gone a little bit with 25 minutes to go.”

However, he decided to keep Sanchez on, instead choosing to sub Mesut Ozil and marveled how “Alexis did fight very hard until the end.”
