Atletico Madrid’s Juanfran has revealed that he rejected two offers from Arsenal.

The Spanish international, who moved to Atletico in 2011, was allegedly approached prior to Arsenal sealing the signature of the unluckiest right-back on the planet – Mathieu Debuchy.

Starting his career with Real Madrid, a side he only made six league appearances for, the defender made the revelation during an interview with Radio Marca “I know where I am. Atletico have pushed for me to stay. I rejected two offers from Arsenal. It’s what I feel.”

He doesn’t explain when the bids were made, nor why he turned them down beyond Atletico wanting him to stay.

Signing a contract with the Spanish side at the end of May last year, he is now under contract util 2018 but it’s highly unlikely that the Arsenal manger retains any interest in signing him given the emergence of Hector Bellerin, the arrival of Calum Chambers and the fact that Juanfran Is now 30.
