Olivier Giroud wants to outscore Alexis Sanchez.

Not a bad goal to have, you have to admit.

The Arsenal striker has been on fire since his nightmare against Monaco, picking up the Arsenal player of the month for March and being nominated for the Premier League player of the month as well, an award he should win but will likely be given to Harry Kane because people are idiots.

Speaking to the media in France, Giroud revealed that he has set himself a goal of outscoring Alexis this season, something that is more than achievable given their respective form.

“I’m not going to say something silly because it’ll be reported, but why not finish ahead of Alexis?” Giroud said. “We push each other, we’re on 13 goals, and I would like to score some more to help the team achieve its objectives.”

That is certainly one of the major benefits of having a big squad full of quality players – their ability to drive each other on to reach new heights.

With Sanchez bound to break his mini-drought soon, hopefully this weekend against the club who tried so desperately to sign him and then didn’t stop crying about it for months, it can all only be a good thing for Arsenal.
