Chelsea and PSG have made an offer for Palermo’s Paulo Dybala according to the player’s agent. As have Arsenal. Allegedly.

The young forward has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, mostly by his club’s president who has done his best to whip up a bidding war for a player they are resigned to losing and has now also claimed that the Gunners have actually bid for the player as well.

Maurizio Zamarini told the media in Italy “Dybala is not Sergio Aguero but the new (Lionel) Messi. He’s not an out-and-out striker, but operates in every area of the field, like Messi.

“Will he stay? No, because the player and his agent aspire to a big club, and they’re right to do so. I’ve already received at least four offers.

“Two were from Italian clubs, and two were from abroad, and they include Arsenal and Juventus.”

Originally seeking offers around £29m for the 21-year-old, it will come as no surprise, then, that it is two of the oil clubs who have offered to stump up the huge fee with PSG leading the way with a £32.4m bid while Chelsea have offered £28.8m.

“Paris St Germain have already come forward with an offer of about £32.4m and Chelsea had already reached £28.8m,” the agent told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Seeing that he has done enough to get the rich clubs interested, Palermo now want more than £36m for the forward who has 13 goals and ten assists in his 30 league appearances this season. Does this sound like a bidding war Arsenal are likely to be involved in?

The player is said to favour a move that would keep him in Italy with Juventus said to be his preferred destination although it’s hard to see how the Old Lady will be able to compete with the offers coming in from the New Money.

And earned money, if Arsenal are indeed involved.

My gut tells me to dismiss this rumour or, at the very least, not to expect a positive outcome. Then again, it also said the same about Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanche so the only thing that’s certain is my gut is a moron.
