It makes a change for an Arsenal legend to be speaking about United rather than the other way around.
After weeks of having to listen to just about every player to ever pull on the United shirt give their (ill-informed) opinion on Mesut Ozil, Thierry Henry has been giving his views on the Old Trafford side in his column with the Sun (£).
Manchester United face Tottenham on Sunday knowing that the London side could close the gap completely on them should they lose. Given that they haven’t been able to beat Spurs in the last five games, you wouldn’t bet against Pochettino’s men.
Arsenal, while still glancing over their shoulder, have their eyes set on Manchester City above who are just one point ahead and in an awful run of form.
Henry said
“As an Arsenal player, I played against United — I battled against United — and always got used to them being at the very top and playing a certain way.
“This team is very different and it is weird to see.
“Even when I was playing abroad with Barcelona or in the United States, I would look at United’s fixtures at Old Trafford and say to myself ‘that’s a home win, for sure’.
“Now, you find yourself keeping an eye on United matches because you know they may struggle or even lose.
“Tottenham go to Old Trafford today and there is not a single result which would surprise me.
“Spurs will fancy their chances of leaving with at least a point.
“Do not tell me that this United team does not have quality but the players are not performing.”
About the top four race, he added
“At the start of this season, I had no doubt that United would finish in the top four and return to the Champions League.
“It now looks as though the four will be Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.”
With so many teams capable of finishing in the top four it’s impossible to call the final order despite Hnery’s assertion.
As long as Arsenal are in there, I don’t overly care about the rest.
