Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Chilean midfielder Charles Aranguiz.
According to various reports, the club have been scouting him quite a bit and we’ve watched as the transfer fee reportedly required to land him rocketed in the media.
Playing at the Emirates for his country against Brazil on Sunday, the press didn’t waste the opportunity to ask the player about the links and while it seems that Aranguiz would be more than open to a move, no-one from Arsenal has actually been in touch with him so it might seem like the media, in parts, have got somewhat carried away with themselves.
“They’re a great team, and it would be a dream,” Aranguiz told reporters. “But for now that’s all it is, a dream.
“I don’t know anything about it. I’ve heard about it through the press but nobody has talked to me.”
The 25-year-old creative playmaker currently plays for Internacional in Brazil and could be targeted by Arsenal to fill one of the many midfield slots that might come available this summer should Abou Diaby, Mathieu Flamini and, possibly even Tomas Rosicky leave the club.
For now, however, even though he has a dream, any potential move seems to be mere speculation.
