Gilberto Silva has been saying nice things about Alexis Sanchez.

How is that not an opening to warm the hearts of Gooners everywhere?

Ending his mini goal drought on Wednesday night against QPR with an effort only he would think of, the Chilean smashed the ball through a gap no bigger than the ball itself to ensure Arsenal left Loftus Road with all three points.

Now, speaking to the media as part of his duties ahead of the friendly between Brazil and Chile at the Emirates later this month, Gilberto has hailed the Arsneal front man.

The Invincible said

“I’m impressed with Alexis.

“He has settled really well and I am very happy to see a player like him at a club like Arsenal.

He is doing well and I hope he continues like that because he can be a guy who can help Arsenal win titles, that is what the club wants.”

“It was important for him and the team to start his time with the club well and I really like his style. Arsène Wenger and the club are very careful when they want to sign a player, they don’t want to make a mistake.

“But I think they did the right thing with Alexis and he is paying them back with his performances. He is doing well and I hope he continues like that because he can be a guy who can help Arsenal win titles, that is what the club wants.

“Alexis can be a killer in front of the goal and a nightmare for defenders but Neymar is also doing really well, he is very skilful and can make a difference with every single attack.

“It is really good when you have a game where both sides have these great players that go against each other, they are very attractive and can produce the football people want to watch.”

In his first season in a new country with a new club in a new league, Alexis has 19 goals and 10 assists. Only Sergio Aguero has been directly involved in more goals in the Premier League (23).

Goals scored is about the only attacking metric in which the City man outdoes Sanchez:
