Carl Jenkinson is currently enjoying a productive loan spell with West ham.

The self-professed Gooner has nailed down the starting right-back spot with the Hammers and it would seem like he faces an impossible task to get into the Arsenal squad with Mathieu Debuchy, Hector Bellerin and Calum Chambers all ahead of him and showing greater potential.

Earlier in the season there was talk that West Ham would seek to make the deal permanent and now one of their owners has given the clearest hint yet that that is a possibility.

Asked if Jenks could play against Arsenal next week when the sides meet in the Premier League (he can’t, loan rules in the league forbid playinga gainst your parent club), David Gold crytically replied

It is, of course, the inclusion of the words ‘This year’, very deliberately added to the end of that tweet that is raising the questions regarding Jenks and his future.

No doubt should Arsenal let Carl go, and it is very much something Arsene Wenger would do to enable him to play regularly, it will be a very sad day.

Carl is Arsenal through and through and it would be an absolute dream to see him make it at the club.

Sadly, however, that just doesn’t seem like it is going to happen.
