Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Inter Milan’s Mateo Kovacic.

The 20-year-old midfielder will not be leaving Inter anytime soon, something you think would be common sense given that he’s just signed a five-year deal.

Speaking to the press, his agent Nikky Vuksan, confirmed that his client is happy and not looking to go anywhere. More than that, he also confirmed that he has not spoken to Arsenal or anyone.

Vuksan said [via Google translate so it’s a bit dodgy in places]

“He has signed for five years renewal, believes in the future at Inter.

“If he had not been happy in Milan he would not have extended the agreement.

“He does not play? Mateo is always happy. After the stop with Wolfsburg, do not know when he will be at the top to return.

“He is 21 years old [edit – he’s 20] and is a national team player, plays for Inter.

“He’s all right I would say.

“Arsenal? I do not speak with anyone, [he] renewed with Inter. He’s an Inter player and will continue [with Inter].”

Although he’s young and a midfielder it seems very much like all of this is paper speculation and you can’t even lay it at the door of the agent as he seems quite happy to have his client remain in Italy.

That being said, there’s nothing to say he didn’t start the rumour in the lead up to the new agreement being signed and this is simply it rumbling on.
