As we approach the last few months of the season we’ll see transfer rumours picking up pace in the media before anything has actually been settled domestically or in Europe.

Looking through our first team squad I get the feeling we will add a few players again this summer, mainly in central midfield but will we strengthen elsewhere?

Here are six players who could be playing for their Arsenal future.

Mathieu Flamini

A no-brainier to start with.

Flam’s not a terrible player but just not one we can rely on against any opposition with pace. The fact he was ousted as soon as Coquelin had some decent games speaks volumes about how much faith Wenger has in him.

Now a cup player and currently our third-choice defensive midfielder behind Arteta and Le Coq, I’m sure we’ll look to offload him. The prospect of a defensive minded midfielder coming in the summer aswell will limit his options further if he sticks around.

Suppose he may be used as a 3rd or 4th choice fullback if needs be but as he’s out of contract in the summer with no sign of a new one being offered, that seems unlikely.

Last week I wrote that I wasn’t sure what we do with little Jack when everyone is fit.

Granted, if he manages to stay fit then he will get game time as we’ll always have injuries but can his weak ankles hold up in the long run?

Will another smoking incident push Le Boss into cashing in?

His love for the club can’t be questioned and on his day, he’s a class act.

However, if he carries on picking up injuries at a Diaby rate and we do strengthen in his position in the next window then it’ll be interesting to see where that leaves Wilshere.

Another fan of a drag now and then is the over-confident Pole.

Woj is a player who is still very young for a keeper but has been dropped a few times in recent seasons due to some weak performances.

The smoking incident at Southampton obviously didn’t help matters but according to Wenger, it was his woeful performance and not his smoking habits that pushed him behind Ospina.

Since he’s come in, Ospina hasn’t looked like an ideal long term replacement. Granted it’s still early days but it still feels like an area we can improve on massively.

With Szcesney having tested Arsene’s patience a few times already, he could be one to make way in the summer.

Abou Diaby

OK, “playing for his future” is quite ambitious in this case.

Out of contract in the summer it would be wise, and a little sad, to let Diaby go.

A player who I believe is very talented and could have become one of the leagues best if not for injuries, it’s approaching a period where he just needs to leave.

Wenger has stuck by him and hinted at a new deal but unfortunately it’s not a risk worth taking, again.

Another one who’s out of contract in the summer and at the age of 34, is as much in the last years of his career as he could be.

He has been brilliant in the last couple of months and as his long term injuries seem behind him I hope we see little Mozart for another season.

Seems happy enough to be a squad player when we have our annual injury crisis and is always a class act in doing so.

Santi Cazorla

I know this one is a tad controversial but my thinking here is that he’s no longer in his 20s, and rumour had it that we’d have sold him last summer if the right bid had came in.

We all know Wenger has a habit of cashing in on a player when the time is right.

If we add an attacking midfielder in the summer, will that be funded by the sale of Santi?

The little Spaniard is a joy to watch and I’d be gutted to see him leave but he’s at that age where he has only one big move left, if Wenger wanted to raise some spending money then he could be the one sacrificed.

There would be plenty of interested clubs so I wouldn’t rule it out as the rumours have already started.

With Coquelin, Campbell and Akpom recently signing new deals and Arteta reportedly close to one, it’s safe to say they will still be Arsenal players next season.

If we find a willing buyer we have definitely seen the last of Podolski.

Will any of those six join him out of the Arsenal?
