Santi is set for the Arsenal exit door if reports are to be believed.

Which, of course, they shouldn’t, unless you have rocks for brains.

Starting in Spain, the radio station Cadena Cope claimed that the Spaniard, who is enjoying quite possibly the best spell of football in his life, has agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid and that the two clubs were now trying to agree a fee that would see him head back to Spain in the summer.

The radio station got their information from Antonio Ruiz who is, as far as I can tell, connected with Tiempo de Juego which seems to be a TV show. On their official twitter page, their official website is the same as the Spanish radio station.

This report has, of course, been picked up by many of the major sites in the UK which don’t even seem to question its validity.

Captaining the side against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Sunday, Santi is playing in the middle of this current side with a smile on his face as he conducts the Arsenal orchestra.

Picking up goals, man-of-the-match awards and player of the month accolades as if his life depended on them, he is under contract with the club until 2016.

Apart from the fact that Santi is playing as if he has never enjoyed his football more, Arsenal are no longer in the business of selling their best players and if they aren’t actively trying to renew his contract rather than sell him, I’ll eat my Arsenal scarf.

It’s also worth noting that back in the summer it was claimed that Santi was very keen on a move to Atletico and look how that all turned out. Those rumours also started with the very same radio station.
