You may remember a time when we were always linked with Felipe Melo.

Well, it seems as if there might have a reason for that – Arsenal made the player an offer when he was still with Fiorentina in 2009.

That is according to the player himself.

Melo, who decided to stay in Italy instead and move to Juventus, struggled to settle with the Old Lady and moved on to Galatasaray for just £3m after a two-season loan spell with the club.

Now 31 and perhaps wondering what might have been as he eyes up a Premier League payday before hanging up his boots, the Brazilian is issuing a ‘come and get me’ plea.s

Speaking to Sambafoot, Melo said, as he fluttered his eyelashes at Chelsea and Liverpool

“I am a warrior, the English like that.

“I have been approached by English clubs when I played at Juve. I do not close the door.

“If an offer arrives and it is good for me and Galatasaray, why not?

“Arsenal wanted me to come in 2009 when I was at Fiorentina.

“Juve paid nearly 25 million euros (£18.5m) to pay my release clause and I signed there.

“I love Chelsea because I’m a big fan of Jose Mourinho. I appreciate Liverpool because they have great fans.”

He loves Chelsea, is a big fan of Jose Mourinho and he loves Liverpool’s fans.

Arsenal clearly dodged a bullet there.
