This is why you should never trust the press.

After reporting earlier in the week, based on media reports, that Alexis Sanchez was set to return to the side for the north London Derby on Saturday, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the Chilean talisman will miss the game.

Suffering from a hamstring problem, Wenger thinks that the player could be available for the midweek game against Leicester.

Wenger told Arsenal.com

The latest is that Alexis is not ready.

He is not far away, the Leicester game is a possibility.

He is of course very difficult to keep quiet!

He is training but it’s light training.

The news, of course, comes as a blow but it is not as if Arsenal will be short of options, especially with Danny Welbeck back in the side.

Wenger confirmed that the side had not suffered any new injuries since the Aston Villa game when he added

Welbeck is back in the group.

Apart from that we have the same squad available as last week
