MK Dons have confirmed that on-loan Arsenal striker seems set to leave the Emirates on a permanent basis.

The striker, who has been at the club since he was six has been out on loan since 2010, all in the lower divisions.

MK Dons tweeted

Although they say it is an unnamed team, the striker has been linked recently with Huddersfield Town, a side he enjoyed a loan spell with in the 10/11 season and Wolverhampton Wanderers (reports were emerging on Twitter on Saturday evening that he had completed a medical with Wolves).

While big things were expected from Afobe, a series of serious knee injuries saw his career stall and him unable to fulfil the potential that once saw him score 40 goals for the under-16’s in 07/08.

Still only 21, Benik has his whole career ahead of him but at this point it is hard to see him breaking through into the Arsenal senior team at any point in the near future.

His Arsenal contract expires in the summer and this window would be the last opportunity for Arsenal to get some sort of fee for him.
