Norwegian youngster Martin Odegaard has been on a little tour of Europe.

Trialling at just about every top club across the top leagues, he stopped off on his tour for a little time with Arsenal.

Despite Arsene Wenger’s obvious talent for developing youngsters and the fact he likes to actually use them rather than just stockpile them to sell at a later date, young Martin was not convinced and has decided to sign for Real Madrid who have apparently promised him first team minutes this season.

He’s 16 years old.

That being said, he did make his international debut when he was just 15.

The Spanish side have apparently already given him a shirt number and the club, although not confirming the deal, have flown him in via private jet and are not yet denying anything.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Guillem Balague said, “Martin Odegaard signing for Real Madrid has been reported in the Spanish press and has not been denied by the club.

“Apparently he got my book about Lionel Messi and posted it on Twitter – saying Messi was his favourite player. Today that message is gone, which is interesting. [Edit -it wasn’t]

“I believe he will sign for Real Madrid and even though he is only 16, he is an international and he has more than enough training in his legs and brain to be a top star.”

A number of people in the game had publicly warned the youngster against choosing Real Madrid or Barcelona but, in true footballer fashion, it seems he’s listened to none of them.
