Danny Welbeck is set for a return next weekend.
The forward, who has been out since the end of last year with a thigh problem has taken slightly longer to recover than originally expected but will be back in the squad for the game at White Hart Lane against Tottenham.
Speaking to Arsenal.com, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Welbeck was ‘very close’.
He said
Welbeck is very close. He is really, really, really nearly there. He will be available for the Tottenham game.
The loss of Welbeck has been cushioned somewhat by the number of other players who have returned from injury or stupidity (looking at you, Olivier) and unlike the other injuries that Arsenal tend to pick up, this one has actually proven to be relatively short-term.
It’s almost a miracle.
Welbeck has seven goals and four assists in all competitions this season, making 23 appearances but it is his general all-round play and selflessness which has found him a place in Arsenal fans hearts this season after his move from Manchester United in the summer.
Welbeck will return to full training on Monday.
