ESPN claim that a source close to the midfielder has revealed the 25-year-old’s excitement about the idea of playing in the Premier League. Spanish outlet AS previously linked Arsenal and Manchester City with the player, and that rumour has been given a boost by the news that Partey himself is interested.

On the other hand, Atletico boss Diego Simeone doesn’t want to let Partey leave, and that faith from his manager could swing the situation back in their favour. Nonetheless, the Ghana international is considering his options.

This isn’t entirely new information, as Partey said last summer: “The Premier League is a good league, it’s very competitive and has some of the best players in the world. Hopefully, one day. I would like to play there.”

The defensive midfielder has made 34 appearances this season, scoring a couple of goals and providing five assists. His best work is off the ball, as he’s fantastic at making interceptions and tackles to win possession back, but he’s also more than capable at making things happen once he’s won it.

If Arsenal really are interested, Partey has a €50m buy-out clause. We’ll have to wait and see if the Gunners think he’s worth that kind of fee.
