Jeff Reine-Adelaide has joined Ligue 1 side Angers on loan for the remainder of the season.

Arsenal announced Reine-Adelaide’s move on deadline day.

Angers are currently 16th in the Ligue 1 table with a goal difference of minus six. Clearly they could use the Frenchman’s creativity to help add a few more goals and push them up the table.

The 20-year-old joined the Gunners back in 2015, but so far he’s only made eight appearances for the senior side in two-and-a-half seasons.

This campaign, injuries disrupted Jeff’s chances and stopped him making any first team starts at all. Other youth midfielders like Joe Willock, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Marcus McGuane got some well-earned opportunities, but Reine-Adelaide missed out.

Instead, the former Lens man was in and out of the u23s thanks to various knocks and strains. He made eight starts, scored one and assisted two before his January move.

Hopefully Reine-Adelaide can play a bit more consistently in France. It will be his first experience of top division league football, in England or abroad. He had only played in the cups for Arsenal and for Lens’ second team in the past. The main thing is to make sure the u17 Euros winner stays fit though, because he can’t afford too many more setbacks.

Good luck Jeff, enjoy your loan spell and learn as much as you can!
