Borussia Dortmund are looking at Olivier Giroud as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

  • Chelsea are interested in signing Aubameyang
  • Dortmund could turn to Giroud to replace him

The Bundesliga club could lose Aubameyang this summer, with Chelsea reportedly showing an interest. And according to reports, they could turn to Giroud as a replacement.

Quite why Dortmund would go from a very quick striker to a target man is unknown, but they’re reportedly the latest club to show an interest in the Frenchman.

Giroud could leave Arsenal after making just 11 Premier League starts last season. With a World Cup coming up, the 30-year-old will want as much playing time as possible to ensure he’s still first choice.

However, manager Arsene Wenger wants to keep Giroud at Arsenal due to the unique attacking qualities he adds to the team. The striker would prefer to stay at the Emirates but could be forced to consider a move if he can’t get starts over new signing Alexandre Lacazette.

Everton, West Ham, Lyon and Marseille have shown interest. Dortmund could have the upper hand due to being in next season’s Champions League.
