A report in France is claiming that Olivier Giroud took a £10k per week paycut to sign a new one-year extension with Arsenal.

Giroud signed an extension that will keep him at the club until 2019 instead of 2018 which was when his current deal was set to expire.

Earning £90k per week in his new deal according to a British report, Sportune in France believe this represents a £10k-a-week drop from the £100k he was on before. This would tally with the figures collected by SillySeason, that gathers available information about Arsenal salaries from respectable sites.

Seeking guarantees over his playing time, if this report is true it would make a mockery of the press reports claiming that Giroud was keen to leave the club.

Laurent Koscielny’s deal will tie him to the club until 2020.

Francis Coquelin signed a deal until 2021 worth a massive £75k per week.
