Arsenal have contacted Ludovic Chorgnon as they look to get help with the player’s mental preparation ahead of games.

Chorgnon recently won 41 Ironman triathalon titles in just 41 days, with each run consisting of a 3.8-kilometre swim, 180-kilometre bike ride and 42.2-kilometre run.

Unsurprisingly, Arsene Wenger is interested in his preparation methods.

Speaking to La Nouvelle Republique, Chorgnon said “I was  looking at my emails from Monday evening, when I looked at the first one I thought it was a joke so I did not answer it straightaway.

“Then I checked that it was really coming from England and signed by a person close to Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager. Then when a second email came, I answered it.

“I now have a conference call with the manager of player’s psychology monitoring unit.

“If I understand well, Wenger would be interested to understand my approach in preparation, [how] to manage to surpass your own limits.

“Nothing is concluded so far, it is really the first contact with the English people, something I would never have imagined but really pleases me.”

Arsenal have often been accused of being ‘soft’ or ‘bottlers’ and it is something that I myself have commented on – that their problem is not one of skill or application but something that is in their head.

If they can manage to recruit Chorgnon, they will certainly go a long way to addressing that issue.
