Despite apparently loving life with Marseille, Matteo Guendouzi’s time with the French side looks to be coming to an end.
Matteo Guendouzi could be on his way from Marseille with a number of offers from other clubs on the table.
Initially it was reported that neither party were keen on a move happening during the January window. Rather, a summer departure seems was touted as more likely.
However, in the last few days, French media seem to believe Guendouzi could be on his way this month:
By now, you’re probably wondering ‘why?’ After all, Guendouzi seems to be really enjoying his time with Marseille.
It looks like it could all stem back to the summer when Guendouzi was told he could leave after complaining about the new coach, Igor Tudor.
Tudor was appointed just three days after Guendouzi signed for Marseille under Jorge Sampaoli, who had been the 23-year-old’s manager when he was on loan.
Marseille’s president, Pablo Longoria, did not care about Guendouzi’s complaints about Tudor’s decisions during a friendly against AC Milan and told him he could leave if he didn’t like it.
Now, L’Equipe write that Guendouzi will discuss the issue with Marseille’s management.
Guendouzi is under contract until the end of the 24/25 season after signing a three year deal when Arsenal sold him for €11m.
