Arsenal won’t hesitate to recall Marcelo Flores from his loan to Real Oviedo if he’s not featuring more regularly by January, according to a report.

El Desmarque report that Arsenal will have no problem recalling Marcelo Flores to find him a new loan destination if Real Oviedo can’t guarantee minutes for the youngster.

The outlet suggests that if Flores’ situation doesn’t change in the next few weeks, the player could consider making that change. They write that the player’s patience “has a limit, and it could soon end”.

The 18-year-old winger has made five appearances in Real Oviedo’s opening seven games, but only two of them were starts, and neither lasted the full 90 minutes.

Since the start of September, Flores has played just 44 minutes of football over four matchdays.

The teenager’s lack of match action also saw him miss out on an international call-up over the break, having been in the Mexico squad against Suriname and Jamaica in June.

It’s not the start Flores would have wanted, but we’re still in the very early stages of the youngster’s loan. Oviedo have six games in October, so we should have a much better idea of how highly they rate him after that.

In general, Arsenal have done a pretty good job of managing their loan players in recent years. If things aren’t working out or a better loan option crops up, they’ve usually been quick to take action.

Loan manager Ben Knapper will be keeping a close eye on developments with Flores in the coming months.
