Chelsea have reportedly contacted Kahyon Edwards about the possibility of a free transfer despite not being allowed to sign any players under the terms of the government’s sanctions.

Arsenal are still hopeful of tying academy top scorer Khayon Edwards down to a new contract but that hasn’t stopped Chelsea reaching out to the player.

Football.London reported last week that Arsenal are still hoping to agree a new deal with Khayon Edwards, whose scholarship deal expires this summer.

Talks are reportedly moving in the right direction and have been going on for several months already.

Daily Cannon exclusively reported in December that Arsenal were pushing to sign Edwards to a new deal to 2025, making three offers to him by that stage.

The player ideally wants to stay, but he also wants to play regularly. Given the outside interest in him, that could lead him to consider his options.

Football.London confirmed that RB Leipzig, Hertha Berlin, and Feyenoord are among the teams linked with a move for Edwards, as first reported by Daily Cannon.

There has also been plenty of interest from England, so the striker has options.

The recent progress on Edwards’ contract situation is likely thanks to the fact that he has plenty of time to focus on what’s next at the moment.

With his season coming to an early end through injury, Edwards’ priorities will be getting fit and sorting out his future beyond this summer.

Before the injury, Edwards was the Arsenal academy’s top scorer from the u18s up – scoring 21 goals and assisting a further five in all competitions.
