After yet another win for Arsenal at the weekend against Watford, another player from Mikel Arteta’s side has made it into the BBC Team of the Week. This time around, Garth Crooks has selected match-winner Emile Smith Rowe.

Crooks writes that Smith Rowe is “making a name for himself very quickly”, and praises the 21-year-old’s “brilliantly taken” goal. The article adds that Smith Rowe is just the fourth Arsenal u21 player to score in three consecutive Premier League appearances.

Smith Rowe also made the WhoScored Team of the Week, along with Ben White. WhoScored write that White got in based on his six clearances, three interceptions, and three shots blocked.

As for Smith Rowe, as well as his goal he completed 92% of his passes and both of his attempted dribbles.

It’s rather amusing that Smith Rowe and White should both make the Team of the Week just days after they were both controversially left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad, and it’s great to see them both responding to that exclusion with strong performances.

If the two of them still haven’t made it into the squad by the World Cup next year, Southgate will really have some questions to answer.
