Arsenal confirmed their four nominees on Tuesday, up for the fans to vote on. Emile Smith Rowe, Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are all up for the September Player of the Month award.

Tomiyasu and Ramsdale have had major parts to play in Arsenal’s improved recent defensive record, with just one goal conceded in the three Premier League games they’ve featured in.

The duo have certainly improved Arsenal in the air, with Tomiyasu winning 14 of his 16 aerial duels and Ramsdale making five high claims to cut out the danger from crosses as much as possible.

Smith Rowe’s nomination will largely stem from the last week of football, as he scored against AFC Wimbledon as a substitute and then scored and assisted in the North London derby. He’s in excellent form right now.

Finally, Aubameyang scored twice in three games in September, and looked to be in his best form in the derby. He’s another deserving candidate and has turned things around well after his issues with Covid-19 in August.

It’s a tough call between the four of them, but that’s definitely a good thing. Much better than having to call the award off, like they had to last month after three straight league defeats.

It’s up to Arsenal to carry their momentum into October now.
