Runar Alex Runarsson’s loan move to Altay Spor reportedly fell through late last month and now the Turkish side have agreed a deal with another keeper.

The Telegraph reported at the end of July that Arsenal’s deal for Runar Alex Runarsson to join Altay Spor has fallen through, as the two clubs could not agree terms for the Iceland international.

The deal was only meant to be a loan move in the first place, so presumably the terms they failed to agree on concerned a loan fee and the split of wages between the two clubs.

Football.London had previously reported that Runar Alex Runarsson would spend the season on loan with Altay Spor. They’d added he would travel to sign the deal in the last week of July.

But Football.London also confirmed the deal fell through with Arsenal looking at alternative loan moves because Altay Spor reportedly wouldn’t pay Arsenal’s proposed loan fee.

Turkish journalist Ege Engin originally reported at the start of July that Altay Spor were in the final stages of a move for Runarsson.

Charles Watts then picked up the story, confirming that Runarsson was close to leaving but it all fell apart at the last hurdle and Altay Spor have now found agreement with Wisla Krakow’s 24-year-old keeper, Mateusz Lis.

Runarsson really needs to be playing next season to get his career back on track and boost his profile. There will hopefully be other clubs out there for him because he has no future at Arsenal.
