Arsenal youth striker Nikolaj Moller has joined German side FC Viktoria Köln on a one-year loan deal, Arsenal have confirmed.

Following the signing of Mika Biereth from Fulham, Arsenal have confirmed that youth striker Nikolaj Moller has joined FC Viktoria Köln on loan this season. The priority is clearly regular game time, as he’ll be playing in the German third division with his loan club.

That’s no bad thing though. Moller is only making his first step into the world of senior football, so he doesn’t need to be playing at a high level just yet, he just needs to be playing.

It’s worth remembering Moller only turned 19 on 20 July, and he joined Arsenal less than a year ago. It makes sense to take things step by step.

“I’m an ambitious player,” Moller told Viktoria Köln’s website. “I want the best for myself, the team and of course the club. I’ve seen the new colleagues in action a little. I think Viktoria is a good team. So I think we are on the right track.”

Marcus Steegmann, Sport Director of Viktoria Köln, added, “Nikolaj Möller is a very talented player. He is tall and has a strong physique – paired with good technique. I am convinced that he fits into our team very well. He is a young player who has great development potential and wants to take the next steps with us.”

Moller scored seven goals and assisted three in 20 appearances in his first campaign with the club’s u23s. The tall Swedish centre-forward has a lot of good attributes, though he’ll look to be getting on the scoresheet more regularly this campaign.

Arsenal made eight u23 players publicly available for loan moves this summer, and Moller appears to be the first of them to secure a temporary transfer.
