Stuivenberg currently serves as Mikel Arteta’s number two, but was added to the Wales’ staff in 2018 when Ryan Giggs was still in charge.

“It has been an honour to be part of the coaching set-up with Wales,” said Stuivenberg, 50, the former boss of Belgian side Genk.

“It has been an exciting period in the history of the game and I have learnt a lot both on and off the field. I thank all the players for the hard work and the incredible, passionate supporters.”

Stuivenberg is a Dutch coach who has managed the Dutch u17 and u21 sides as well as Eredivisie side, Genk.

He has also served as assistant at Manchester United alongside Louis van Gaal, where he initially met Ryan Giggs.

Born in Rotterdam, Stuivenberg started his footballing career as a youngster with Feyenoord before moving on to HFC Haarlem and SC Telstar, although he doesn’t seem to have made any senior appearances for any club.

While manager at Genk between the end of December 2016 and December 2017, he took charge of 50 games and averaged 1.76 points per game, a slight improvement on the 1.70 and 1.71 he managed with the Dutch youth sides.

Stuivenberg has also served as Director of Football for RWD Molenbeek’s u19s and as a youth coach for Al-Jazeera.

He was appointed to his role as Wales’ assistant in March 2018. His first game on the bench was a 6-0 win over China seven days later.

Stuivenberg also helped guide Wales to Euro 2020, only the third major tournament in their history.
