Arsenal are reportedly turning back to Julian Brandt with Martin Odegaard deemed ‘too expensive’ and German media report an offer is being prepared.

Arsenal want to buy a creative midfielder this summer and, ideally, they would like to get their hands on Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid, but he is likely to be too expensive.

That’s if he’s even for sale at all.

Enter Julian Brandt, who would reportedly only cost €25m from Borussia Dortmund.

David Ornstein confirmed the club’s interest in the midfielder back in January, admitting Arsenal had ‘considered’ a move for Brandt. Football.London then reported that Brandt was a realistic alternative to Emi Buendia in January.

There were conflicting claims about the potential price, with Chris Wheatley initially putting a €25m price tag on the player before German sources suggested he could cost more than twice that.

Now, it’s back to €25m again with German journalist, Christian Falk, writing in Bild,“Odegaard is playing quite well, and they would probably like to keep him.

“But he is definitely too expensive, so they will bring out the old plans from January.

“We have already talked about Julian Brandt from Dortmund and that he is a player that Arsenal would like.

“He will only cost €25m, but of course, it’s a matter of negotiation.”

Sauerland Kurier now report that Arsenal are preparing an offer and that the Bundesliga side will sell if it meets their valuation, although they also admit that there have bee no talks between the player and his manager, Marco Rose, about a summer move.

Brandt has three goals and two assists in 40 games this season, is averaging around 45 minutes per game, and is under contract until 2024.
