Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe have relatively uncertain futures going into the final week of the transfer window. There’s certainly little chance of permanent moves for the youngsters, but loan deals could happen for either.

The Beautiful Game Podcast report that Brighton, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Southampton have all contacted Arsenal to register their interest in taking Reiss Nelson on loan this season.

However, the player is in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the upcoming campaign. As things stand, he’ll stay at Arsenal, though that’s not the final decision just yet.

You can see why Arteta might want to keep Nelson. Although Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the number one choice on the left, Nelson started in his place the only time Aubameyang got a rest this season.

Bukayo Saka is another alternative, but he’s mostly starting at wing-back or in midfield. Gabriel Martinelli can play on the left, but he’ll only return to fitness weeks before the January transfer window anyway. Nelson could always go on loan at that point.

Emile Smith Rowe is also more likely to stay than go this week, according to James Benge. Crystal Palace, Southampton and Fulham are all in the mix if that changes sometime before deadline day.

Smith Rowe had a positive loan spell with Huddersfield Town last season, but it looks like he might get chances under Arteta this year. Unfortunately, an injury is holding him back at the moment.
