The January transfer window is now open, sparking plenty of talk about who Arsenal could sign this month, but there are also suggestions that one or two might be on the way out.

Football.London put together a report on Arsenal’s expected transfer activity this month, and they mentioned four senior stars who could depart permanently in January. Let’s have a look at each of them:

2Carl Jenkinson

  • Age: 26
  • Contract Until: 2020
  • Position: Right-Back
  • Estimated Transfer Value: £2.25m

Jenkinson has made even fewer appearances than Elneny this season, though this is partially due to an ankle injury he suffered at the start of the campaign. After making his return in the League Cup, he made one start at left-back, one at centre-back and one at right-back in Arsenal’s Europa League group stage, filling in wherever he was needed.

Football.London write that he’s ‘free to leave’ this month, despite showing some improvement in his minimal appearances so far. With Ainsley Maitland-Niles playing at right-back/wing-back lately, as well as Stephan Lichtsteiner and Hector Bellerin, it certainly seems like Jenkinson isn’t going to get many chances.

The England international did appear close to leaving the club over the summer, but the aforementioned injury prevented that from happening. We’ll see if there’s any interest in him this month.
