Sven Mislintat has identified a long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal as one of four positions he wants to strengthen this summer, so let’s look at who he could sign.

In March, we covered reports of the four areas Arsenal’s new head of recruitment wants to strengthen over the summer, which you can check out here.

One of these areas was at left-back, as it becomes more apparent Nacho Monreal is struggling with the physical demands of the position, and Sead Kolašinac slowly adapts to Premier League life.

In this case Arsenal are looking for someone to support and eventually take over from the club’s current options.

Here are some players they should consider:

2Kenedy

Kenedy
  • Age: 22
  • Current club: Newcastle United (on loan from Chelsea)
  • Contract until: 2020
  • Market value: £6.3m

Kenedy has mostly played in left-midfield this season, but in the past he’s made most of his appearances at left wing-back or left-back for Chelsea. That could help him fit in at Arsenal, since the club regularly switch between full-backs and wing-backs.

The Brazilian is currently on loan at Newcastle United, but only has two years left on his parent club’s contract this summer. He has two goals and two assists in 12 games so far during his loan spell. He also managed a goal and three assists in six games with Chelsea before he left.

If Conte can’t offer him game time, as he couldn’t this season, Kenedy might try and force a move away.

According to reports from the Mirror recently, Arsenal are interested in the 22-year-old, and join Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in chasing his signature.
