Arsenal finally ended their losing streak with a top team performance away at the San Siro, beating Milan 2-0 on the night.

For the first time in a long time, it was more difficult to pick out the poor performers on Arsene Wenger’s side than the good, meaning anyone who took advantage of some great odds were well rewarded. It was just the response Arsenal needed in arguably their most important game of the season so far.

Although one match doesn’t wash away all the recent bad results, or the fact that all the other competitions are essentially over for Arsenal, it does give the team a great chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals though, and a reason for fans to be positive.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan 8.5

In the first half Mkhitaryan was a massive threat to the Milan defence.

A deflected effort gave him his first goal for Arsenal, but he went close on two other occasions, hitting the side-netting and the bar.

He also got in behind the defence in the box on another occasion but couldn’t quite find Welbeck with the cut-back.

In the second period he dropped back a bit and helped out defensively, which was more important at that point.

Overall, a great performance by the Armenian.

Mesut Özil 9

Özil was fantastic on the night, stepping up to a massive game in a big way.

For me, he was the man of the match, with two assists of very high quality.

He often had to play a bit deeper than usual, but excelled doing so.

He made everyone around him better, as he always does when he’s on form.

In the end he came off for the final 10 minutes to shore things up defensively, but the damage was done.

Danny Welbeck 7.5

Despite all the ‘bambi on ice’ jokes, Welbeck played well in Milan.

In truth, everyone was slipping and sliding around on that pitch, and of course the 27-year-old was no exception.

He did also fail to convert a great opportunity in the first half, which we hope won’t come back to haunt him.

In general though, he was on good form.

His runs opened up space for teammates regularly, and his excellent pass to Mkhitaryan should’ve led to a goal.

He was involved in the build up for Ramsey’s second, running at the defence before laying the ball off for Özil.

Still no goal, but playing like that it isn’t such a big issue.
