Chuba Akpom will stay at Arsenal.

The forward, who has been at the club since he was six years old, was set to be out of contract in the summer and had attracted offers from the likes of Borussia Dortmund while generating interest from Premier League clubs including Liverpool.

But, Chubs will be joining none of them.

The BBC have confirmed the reports we brought you earlier in the week that Akpom had agreed a four-and-a-half year deal with Arsenal.

The news comes following what must have been some top-notch negotiating from Arsenal.

Akpom is known to be concerned with his place in the Arsenal striking hierarchy and it had been feared, as he stalled on contract talks initially, that he would look to leave to find more playing tme elsewhere.

He will no doubt have seen the likes of Benik Afobe leave the club and, despite dropping down a level, secure a regular place in a first team squad.

Akpom signed his deal on Tuesday according to David Ornstein, while  Arsenal confirmed the deal on Friday afternoon.

Wenger said of the new deal, which was also announced at the same time as one for Le Coq

“The second was also to extend the contracts of Coquelin and Akpom. That’s what I did as well so we are very happy with what we did.”

They did not confirm any deal details.
