Bukayo Saka is ‘over the moon’ with the way this week went for him, after signing a new Arsenal contract and scoring his first Premier League goal.

It’s hard to argue the Bukayo Saka hasn’t had a successful week, signing a new four-year contract with Arsenal before scoring in their fourth consecutive win.

On Saturday, Mikel Arteta asked the youngster to play a relatively unfamiliar position against Wolves.

Due to Nicolas Pepe’s wife going into labour, the head coach needed someone to fill in on the right, and Saka was next in line.

It wasn’t an easy game for him, by any means. The 18-year-old admits that himself. But he got himself a crucial goal and was very happy with the result after the game.

“Words can’t describe how great it has been for me and for my family,” Saka said.

“I’m delighted to stay with the club that I love and get my first Premier League goal and for us to get the win as well, so I’m over the moon right now.

“There’s still a lot of things that I need to improve on, especially in this game. I need to learn and keep improving my game and keep developing.

“Like I always say, it’s just a dream to play for Arsenal. I’m only 18 and I came from the academy and I’m just happy that the boss is putting me out on the pitch.

“He’s shown so much faith in me so wherever he picks me, I just have to give my all.”

The goal was Saka’s 15th goal or assist of the season, a very impressive record considering how much time he spent playing at left-back.

A left-winger with the academy, the teenager loves to get forward when he can, so it’s no real surprise.

It’s great to see him bringing those goal contributions to the Premier League as well.

It’s one goal and three assists in his last seven league games, helping Arsenal to five wins. That kind of influence from a young player gives the team a big boost.
