Greek outlet Sport FM claim Mavropanos took a medical in Stuttgart yesterday morning. They expect the defender to sign for the recently-promoted Bundesliga club on loan, barring any last-minute alterations.

This follows reports from Germany this week that Stuttgart and former Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat are trying to bring the centre-back to their club.

In England, Football.London report that Mavropanos is actually closer to Werder Bremen right now. They do list Stuttgart among the contenders, however, with three other clubs reportedly in the race.

At this stage, there’s no indication over whether any deal for Mavropanos could include an option to buy.

It’s possible both reports are true. Mavropanos may have held a medical in anticipation of a possible move, even though negotiations are still ongoing. After all, the defender is already in Germany after completing his loan spell with FC Nürnberg.

After making 12 appearances on loan, successfully keeping Nürnberg up, Mavropanos is now looking to sort out his future. With the German season returning and concluding earlier, they’re already in transfer mode.

Stuttgart and the rest will hope to take advantage of the delay for other leagues to get a deal done.
