Bernd Leno and Hector Bellerin both returned to training this week after their recent injuries, though only Bellerin is likely to feature in the FA Cup final.

Arsenal provided updates on Hector Bellerin and Bernd Leno on the club website ahead of the cup final.

Bellerin missed out on the victory over Watford at the weekend with tightness in his right calf. Thankfully, it seems it was nothing serious, and he’s back in full training with the squad again.

Leno returned from his moderate ligament sprain to rejoin running and ball drills this week. You can see footage of him training again on the Arsenal YouTube page. They write that he’s also aiming to return to full training ahead of the final.

Unfortunately, quotes from Mikel Arteta suggest the final will still come too soon for the German goalkeeper. He said on Sunday: “Bernd is still recovering from his injury, so Emi is the one (for the final) now.”

Perhaps there’s an outside chance of Leno making the bench, but then you’re risking an early injury or red card for Martinez leaving the 28-year-old to play almost the full 90 minutes so soon after injury. So it’s probably safer not to include him unless he’s ready for that.

In other injury news, Shkodran Mustafi is out of the final after successful surgery, as we covered previously. Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari and Gabriel Martinelli remain out for the long term.

Mari is trying to return to full training in September, whilst Martinelli and Chambers are just focusing on getting back on the pitch in 2020.
