The Athletic’s Michael Bailey reports that Arsenal 18-year-old Matthew Dennis will sign for Norwich City, joining their development squad initially.

Technically, Dennis isn’t an Arsenal player anymore anyway. He already left the Gunners at the end of last month. The teenager posted on his Instagram story in early June to hint at a move, before the Premier League made his release official.

Dennis was on a scholarship deal with the club, but it came to an end this summer. Arsenal didn’t offer him a professional contract, so he was on the lookout for a new club.

We already had a hint that it would be Norwich City when Jeorge Bird spotted the youngster wearing their training kit in another Instagram post. That obviously could have just been a trial period for him, but now it appears he’s joining permanently.

The versatile wide player made 28 appearances for the Arsenal u18s and came off the bench once for the u23s this season.

He had a couple of particularly positive FA Youth Cup appearances, scoring an impressive goal against Southampton. Good luck to him with his next step!
