Football Ghana report that Thomas Partey will make his future clear in the ‘next few days’ as he prepares to move to England. Arsenal are reportedly not giving up on signing the player this summer, despite their current financial disadvantages.

The outlet adds that Partey is keen to make his mark in the Premier League, and he’s likely to make the switch in the upcoming window. They also rather optimistically say it’s “only” a matter of Arsenal coughing up Partey’s €50m release clause. That’s no small matter.

Of course, if the Gunners do have €50m to spare, there’s nothing stopping the deal. Partey seems keen to join, Mikel Arteta reportedly likes him and Atletico Madrid couldn’t do anything about it.

But if they don’t have the money (which seems much more likely), they have to somehow convince Atletico to lower the asking price.

One tiny boost this week was the news that Premier League clubs won’t have to pay Sky their rebate for another year. That should free up some funds in the immediate future for transfers. Almost certainly not enough for a €50m deal, but it’s one step in that direction.
